IGNITE Student Ministry

Student Ministry is called IGNITE

Student Ministry

First Baptist student ministry, called IGNITE, serves 6th-12th grade students and their families within First Baptist Church, as well as the greater Sevier County area.

This gospel-centered ministry exists to support parents in the discipleship of their students through teaching, community, and outreach.

We are grateful for the opportunity to come alongside families and student, as we pursue God together to build a relationship with His Son Jesus. Please feel free to contact a member of our staff if you have any questions about the details of our student programs.

IGNITE meets together on Sunday mornings at 9:15 am and Wednesdays at 6:00 pm in the Ignite Theater, located on the second floor of Building B, above the fellowship hall.

IGNITE Student Ministry Mission, Core Values and Vision

OUR MISSION -
We believe God has called us, in partnership with parents, to INVEST in the next generation of young people in significant ways, to INSTRUCT them in the core beliefs of Christian faith, along with principles for healthy and productive lives; and to IGNITE them with a passion for Jesus Christ, a love for the lost, and a commitment to the local church. The goal is to launch each student into the world prepared for life, relationships, service, and leadership.

"Never let the fire in your heart go out. Keep it alive. Serve the Lord." – Romans 12:11

OUR CORE VALUES -
In order to accomplish the vision God has given us, the mission will be guided by the following core values:
To INVEST -
We commit to investing in our youth by spending both quality and quantity time with them. We commit to investing in our youth by loving them unconditionally, cheerfully, and faithfully, by showing them we love them. We commit to investing in our youth by praying for them and with them faithfully. We commit to investing in our youth by mentoring them through their questions of faith and daily experiences.

To INSTRUCT -
We commit to teaching our youth core doctrines of the Christian faith in ways that creatively engage their hearts and minds. We commit to instructing our youth to equip them to grow spiritually and lead healthy, productive lives.

To IGNITE -
We commit that in order to ignite our youth with a passion for Christ and others, we must regularly create opportunities for them: to worship, to serve the church body, to minister to the needy, and to evangelize others. We commit to ignite our youth and properly launch them into their future: to prepare them for service to God, life's challenges, healthy relationships, and leadership.

OUR VISION -
Our vision is for each of our youth to be POSITIVE that God loves them, and that He has a good plan and purpose for each life. They should be PASSIONATE for Jesus Christ: for making Him known to others, for His church, and for the needy and the lost. They are to be PREPARED for life, relationships, service, and leadership.

5 THINGS WE HOPE TO TEACH EVERY YOUTH HERE…
1. God loves you, and so do we.
2. You belong here.
3. You are special.
4. You are an important part of this ministry.
5. God has a plan for you.

"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12
